FAQ
WHO IS BEHIND DIGITAL FURY?
The founder, Marc Rice, is an award winning videographer/editor with more than thirteen years experience in the television broadcasting industry. Professionally, he worked as a photojournalist for WESH-TV, NBC Newschannel, and WKMG-TV in Orlando, Florida. During that time, his work was recognized regionally and nationally by several organizations, such as the Florida Associated Press and the National Press Photographer’s Association (NPPA). Rice is also an Apple Final Cut Pro certified instructor and holds additional certifications in Apple Motion and Adobe Photoshop. Additionally, he is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Emmy Award, in 2004 and 2006.
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
We always start with a free consultation to meet with the client and develop a comprehensive understanding of their vision for the project. Everything we do is divided into three phases: (1) pre-production (2) production (3) post-production. See below for a detailed description:
PRE-PRODUCTION
Who is the audience? What is the message? What is the purpose of the message?
In this phase, we learn about the client’s vision and the objective. In every scenario, we understand that effective planning is the key to a successful video message for your company. In doing so, we organize a plan, establish deadlines, and draw up a production schedule that works for all parties involved. We also determine the project budget and sign the production agreement.
Scriptwriting and voice-production is generally completed during this phase as well. Beforehand, a draft version of the script will be sent to the client for approval. At that point, studio time will be booked (if applicable) and final preparations will be made for production.
PRODUCTION
In this phase, we actually record the content to video. The shoot can either take place in the studio or on-location.
The amount of video we shoot is dictated by the needs of the project as well as the details laid out in the script.
POST-PRODUCTION
This is where the magic really happens and the story starts to take shape! This phase is very meticulous and time consuming and there are many responsibilities as the job of the video editor. The original footage is edited down and all mistakes are cut out. The music and voice recordings are also imported into the project. Graphics are designed and built from scratch to fit the project. Once the basic story is assembled, client approval will take place at after the “rough cut” and then again at the “fine cut” stage. This is meant to ensure the message is coming together properly. Upon final approval, the segment will be compressed and prepared for distribution and duplication.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Every project is different and, therefore, custom designed to fit the needs and vision of each client. As a general rule in the industry, professional video production typically ranges between $1000 and $3500 for every minute of the final segment. Naturally, these figures can vary considerably depending on the specifics of each project (location, travel, professional talent, etc). Some project budgets are less and some are more. There are many ways to reduce cost without sacrificing quality and message. In the end, our goal at Digital Fury is to produce a meaningful video that brings to life the vision of our clients.
WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
Digital Fury shoots in a variety of high definition formats with the highest quality Nikkor and Cannon lenses. These top-notch optics deliver crystal clear imaging with sharp focus, great contrast, and shallow depth-of-field. All video and audio is recorded digitally onto industry grade memory cards and transferred into our high-powered editing system where it is spliced into an effective video message.
With the experience of Apple certified professional editors, Digital Fury knows how to push each editing platform to the limit to achieve the best results for every project. All of our projects are built using the following software: Apple Final Cut Pro 10, Apple Final Cut Pro 7, Apple Motion 4 an 5, Apple Compressor, Apple Color, and Adobe Photoshop.
CAN WE SHOOT IN A STUDIO?
Absolutely. Our studio is located in Ocala, FL on Silver Springs Boulevard, just 4 minutes from downtown.
CAN YOU SHOOT ON LOCATION AT OUR PLACE OF BUSINESS?
Certainly. The production can take place just about anywhere. If the shoot is determined to be on-location, our team will need to do a site survey to make sure the environment is suitable for the production.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PRODUCE A VIDEO?
Production times can vary greatly depending on the needs of the project. While some segments can be completed within 24-48 hours, others can take months to finish. During the pre-production phase, a custom plan will be drafted for the project and deadlines will be established.
WHAT PREPARATION IS NECESSARY FOR THOSE INVOLVED IN THE PRODUCTION?
In most cases, individuals scheduled to appear on camera will have a simplified role in the video. The most important thing you can do is relax and be comfortable while the camera is rolling.
SPEAKING ROLE
If you have a speaking role, memorize your lines and prepare to speak with confidence. Also, be prepared to repeat your lines multiple times during the shoot.
INTERVIEW
If you are scheduled for an interview, simply review the talking points and/or questions ahead of time. Make sure you are comfortable with your responses. Also, it’s very important to provide your answers in complete sentences, because in most cases, the question will be cut out of the final video.
WHAT SHOULD OUR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES WEAR FOR THE SHOOT?
Avoid outfits that are too loose or tight, and those with high contrast and busy patterns. Also stray from wearing any clothing that is prominently black, white, or red. If you wear glasses, try to wear contacts on the day of the shoot. Eye glasses will cause reflections that give the producer fits if studio lights are involved. If you must wear the eye glasses, make sure the producer knows ahead of time.
LADIES
Avoid necklaces, loose bracelets, and dangling earrings. Also avoid wearing dresses, as they provide limited options for mic placement when we record your audio. Button up blouses work the best.
WHAT IS YOUR PAYMENT POLICY?
You will be required to provide a 50% down payment at the start of the project, with the remaining balance due after the ‘fine cut’ has been approved.
DO YOU REQUIRE A CONTRACT?
Before we reach the production stage, Digital Fury requires a signed Production Agreement that clearly outlines the details of the project. This is a standard practice intended to communicate the agreements and expectations of the project to all parties involved.
